Online Sports Betting in Idaho

Welcome to safe and legal sports betting in Idaho!

Idaho sports betting

None of Idaho’s legislators have submitted a bill (of any kind) to legalize sports betting in the state. Even after the repeal of PASPA in May 2018, there has been no plan for that to change within the state. Sports betting remains illegal. Without any signs of movement at the legislative level, it remains to be seen if sports betting will ever find its way to the “Gem State.”

Idaho is home to plenty of other fun things beyond sports betting, though. You can find a wide swath of animals that call Idaho their home. Black bears, moose, bighorn sheep, caribou, and over 400 species of birds are located in-state. The state is also a mass producer of dozens of different types of gemstones. Ranging from rare star garnets and diamonds to amethysts and rubies, if gems are what you like, Idaho is a good state for you.

One of the most recognized facts about Idaho is that statewide “infatuation” with potatoes! They even have a Potato Museum in Blackfoot, Idaho, which is easily recognized by the giant baked potato statue out front.

One might think there aren’t too many famous folks from Idaho, but actress Lana Turner, actor Aaron Paul, NFL player Taysom Hill, and Lillian Disney (yes, that Disney) are all from the state!

Legal Betting Options in Idaho are limited to tribal casinos in 2024

Currently, Idaho has several tribal casinos and gaming locations that could theoretically offer retail sports betting.

With no professional sports teams in-state, the only betting option for fans would be on Boise State. The Broncos are Idaho’s sole D1 football program, but the state would also have to allow betting on in-state colleges for that to mean something. Only a limited number of states, like Virginia, offer betting on in-state programs.

You’re more likely to find bordering states with professional teams to pique the curiosity of potential Idaho bettors. Those teams include the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz (NBA) or the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks (NFL).

What about DFS?

Unfortunately, the Idaho Attorney General determined that daily fantasy sports (DFS) constitute gambling under state law. If you’re within the state’s borders, you’ll be banned from participating in such options.
