Jake Paul’s Betr gets Ohio License

Ohio regulators have now approved 16 online sports betting operators before the launch on January 1st, 2023.

One of them is the micro-betting company Betr. Betr Holdings Inc. received a permit as a five-year mobile management services provider. The company is run by the founder and CEO Joey Levy, and social media star and boxer Jake Paul.

During a meeting yesterday, Levy confirmed that if Betr were awarded a license, it would play a “meaningful role” in the state’s sports-betting market by providing a different kind of player experience.jake paul betr ohio launch

The license will allow Betr to conduct online sports betting on behalf of its “proprietor” partner, which is the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village in Canton. The village already got approval for a mobile sports wagering license. However, no legal sports wagering can begin in Ohio until Jan. 1, 2023, the state’s universal start date.

To add, Betr has mentioned their focus on responsible gambling measures. For example, Betr won’t allow deposits with credit cards and will subject players between the ages of 21 and 25 to limits on their wagering. Levy shared, “We plan on becoming a market leader in the U.S. and are excited by the possibility of beginning our journey in the great state of Ohio,” said Levy, who is also Betr’s CEO.

After the latest approvals, we can see that among the 16 operators who received the license, there are names such as FanDuel, Caesars, and Fanatics showing.

Overall, there are 40 proprietor licenses available for brick-and-mortar sportsbooks in Ohio. In addition to more than a thousand businesses that could host lottery-linked sports-betting kiosks.
