The Vegas skyline is about to change after Hard Rock Hotel’s guitar tower got approved by Clark County. The new 660 feet tower will replace its existing volcano location at The Mirage. Prior Hard Rock International executives bought The Mirage from MGM Resorts for $1bn. At the official meeting, all commissioners voted to approve the plan. The volcano will remain for now, but Hard Rock plans to phase out the location eventually.

Essentially, the new space of Hard Rock Hotel will feature nearly 1.44 million square feet of new space. There will be a casino floor, several restaurants, and stores. In addition, the 37-floor tower will have 600 hotel rooms for guests once complete.

The document approved by Clark County Commissioners stated, “Designed to resemble back-to-back guitars, complete with guitar faces and lit strings, this tower will be an engineering masterpiece at the height of 660 feet with floor-to-ceiling glass panes. The guitar tower will forever change the skyline of the Strip.” A similar guitar-shaped hotel was opened by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Florida in 2019.

Also important to note that the current hotel tower will stay open throughout construction without disrupting the operations.

Founded in 1973, Hard Rock International is one of the most globally recognized companies. It has venues in over 70 countries spanning 265 locations that include owned or managed Rock Shops, Live Performance Venues, and more than 200 Cafes. The main characteristic of the brand is music, and therefore the guitar shape can be seen in Hard Rock-related ventures.

Hard Rock currently employs 40,000 people across its many locations and reports $5.2bn in revenue.
